Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekends are busy.  Weekends with a child are just bananas.  So instead of compiling all of the crazy details/pictures of the weekends in a month into the monthly post, I decided to give this a try.  Bring on: Weekly Wrap-Up.  I actually wanted to start this a few weeks ago, so don't be surprised if there are a few back-dated entries added soon. ;)

This weekend:

-  Friday we had our first night out since baby...with a sitter...at bedtime.  Luckily, we had the most amazing sitter in the world.  She is truly a pro (I mean, afterall, this is what she does!)  So after playing, eating and a little fussing, she got Cael to go to sleep while we went with friends to have dinner and drinks.  It was the perfect night of laughs and adult conversation...and a perfect ending picking up sweet baby boy, all snuggled up with Stephanie and Noah.

- Saturday morning we cleaned the house, as per usual.  We finally managed to lower the crib (and with that, found about a dozen pacifiers that had fallen through!).  Then had "date night in" (Tilapia with a home-made strawberry/mango salsa)

- Sunday was crazy.  Cael and I woke up and went to Target to walk around for a little while. We were supposed to go to sweet baby Gabriella's birthday party, but halfway there (an hour late) Cael got extremely fussy (thank you teeth for the perfect timing!).  I nursed him in the car to help, and he spit up.  He ended up getting "happy" again, but it was when the party would have ended.  So, we pulled off the highway to a tiny little town to get something to eat.  We got a table outside, and the weather was perfect! When we got home, we made Cael's baby food for the next two months...while we sampled everything, of course (and found out that Cael prefers sour over sweet...gobbling up kiwi like a boss!)

- Monday...oh Monday.  Yes, this weekend was a "long" weekend in the sense that we didn't work Monday.  We were all off to go to Children's for Harper's surgery.  But, her white-blood cell count was too high to operate, leaving the family (everyone had come to town) emotionally exhausted...and hungry.  Daniel and I ran to Panera for some breakfast for everyone, and we spent the rest of the day napping, visiting, praying and regrouping.  We don't know when everything will be rescheduled, and it's incredibly hard to swallow the idea that this isn't behind all of us yet.  The babies were oblivious (thank Goodness) to the drama, and just played together so sweetly!  Cael even took it upon himself to eat his cousin's toes, haha (see video: here)

Can't wait to see what adventures next weekend will bring!
